Dr. Jay Burns is nationally recognized as a prestigious board-certified Dallas plastic surgeon that has engaged in clinical practice and industry research over his 30-year career. He is the founder of the Vascular Anomalies and Birthmark Clinic at Children’s Medical Center, and he also serves as the medical director of EpiCentre Park Lane and Legacy, and Dallas Medical Skin Solutions. All of his hard work has earned him public recognition and many awards throughout the years.

Dr. Burns was born and raised in Garland, Texas. He graduated from Baylor University magna cum laude and was honored as Outstanding Junior Alumni of Baylor University in 1994. Dr. Burns graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary academic society. He completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals in Salt Lake City followed by a residency in plastic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He then went on to complete specialty training in vascular anomalies and birthmarks at Harvard Affiliated Hospitals.

Listed as one of Texas Monthly’sSuper Doctors” since 2005, and repeatedly recognized by D Magazine as one of Dallas’ Top Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Dr. Burns is at the forefront of innovative procedures. He remains active in R&D publishing cutting-edge articles and bringing many new technologies to market, and previously served as a reviewer of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal. Since 1992, Dr. Burns has served as a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, as well as the governing board and other varied positions leading to his presidency of the society from 2006 to 2007.

In addition, he is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Burns has been a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) since 1997, and was also chosen for the prestigious position of “Visiting Professor” for the ASAPS in 2001 to 2003. From 2009 to 2015, he served as a member on the editorial board of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal.

He speaks regularly on television and radio and has been quoted in many national, state, and local publications such as D Magazine, Texas Monthly, The Washington Post, Readers Digest, Self, Family Circle, Better Homes and Gardens, Allure and Elle.  He has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey “Medical Miracles” show and is a guest plastic surgeon on Good Morning Texas, WFAA-TV.

Dr. Burns and his wife, Ginny, have two children, Hunter and Molly. Dr. Burns is enthusiastically involved with his family and Watermark Community Church. His personal interests involve bow hunting, golf, video editing, and photography, striving daily to be a more fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
