More About Rebecca O'Sullivan

 Dr. O'Sullivan is a graduate of The Medical College of Pennsylvania and Bennington College. She completed an internship in Internal Medicine in the combined program of Tufts University and Boston University at Tufts New England Medical Center, Boston City Hospital, and the Boston Veterans Affairs Hospital. She then completed additional training in Internal Medicine at the St. Luke's Hospital of Columbia University in New York City. Dr. O'Sullivan completed her residency in dermatology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

In 1991, Dr. O'Sullivan completed a fellowship in Melanoma at the UCSF Melanoma Clinic, where she participated in multi-center clinical trials on malignant melanoma and moles, as part of the Melanoma Cooperative Group, funded by the National Institutes of Health. In 1996, she completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at the Lahey Clinic.

A Board Certified in Dermatologist since 1995, Dr. O'Sullivan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology. Dr. O'Sullivan is also an active member of the New England Dermatology Society.

Clinical Interests

  • Medical: skin cancer; chemoprevention and noninvasive methods for the treatment and prevention of chronic sun damage, skin cancer, and cutaneous T cell lymphoma; acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, moles; inflammatory, allergic, and infectious skin conditions
  • Surgical: treatment of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma; removal of malignant and non-malignant tumors in patients of all ages
  • Dr. O'Sullivan enjoys teaching fellow physicians. She was a Clinical Instructor and an Instructor in Dermatology at Harvard Medical School, the Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the Boston Veterans Affairs Medical Center from 1996-2006, where she taught other physicians dermatology and helped train medical students, residents, and fellows in dermatology. During that time, she was a frequent lecturer at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and also lectured at Harvard Medical School.
  • Dr. O'Sullivan wrote a chapter on excision surgery for the Texbook of Dermatologic Surgery, by Ratz et al and has served as a reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. She has served as faculty at the National Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology.
  • Dr. O'Sullivan has an interest in Public Health and Disease Prevention. In the 1980's , she worked in a rural mountain village in Mexico in the Amigos De Las Americas Program. She also worked in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, at the Grace Children's Hospital and Tuberculosis Center.
